Genesis G70 will be the third model to go on sale under the luxury division of the South Korean automaker. There are reports which suggest that this vehicle will basically be a smaller and compact sedan. Supposedly, this vehicle will be a rival to models like Audi A4, Mercedes C-Class and BMW 3 Series. There are possibilities that this vehicle will be having other derivatives like a crossover variant.
Recently, Hyundai has officially announced that Genesis will be its official luxury division. The first model belonging to this luxury brand to be released as Genesis G90 or Genesis EQ900. Basically, this model will be a successor to Hyundai Equus. Post its release, the company will release the Genesis G80 model. It will essentially be the second generation of Hyundai Genesis, but now with a luxury badge.
N-Tuned Performance Variant of Genesis G70
Hyundai has some great ambitions which it wants to fulfill with the upcoming Genesis luxury brand. Apart from a recent announcement about the launch of six new models under the Genesis division by 2020, it has also been revealed that the ‘N’ performance division, which was recently launched by Hyundai, is working on a model that could rival BMW M4.
First model to be included in the ‘N’ performance division will be an N variant of i30 hatchback. This model is mainly aimed for European market. With the recent strategies of Hyundai, it is quite clear that Hyundai will be including a model from Genesis brand under the N division. Therefore, there are expectations that an N-tuned variant of Genesis G70 will also be offered. It will be the first N performance model for the Genesis luxury variant.
Genesis G70 Specs
Ever since the announcement of Genesis G70 vehicle, there have been speculations and rumors about the engine specification that might be offered. There were speculations of the Tau 5 liter V8 being offered, as it was used in the Vision G concept model. However, it is likely to using a tweaked variant of the newly launched 3.3 liter twin turbocharged V6 unit, which is being used by several models of Kia and Hyundai.
This engine is originally tuned to generate about 365 HP along with 376 lb-ft of torque. However, with the possibility of N performance variant, it could generate as much as or even more than 425 HP, which is the output of M4 model. In order to get an upper hand over its rivals, the G70 could possibly be coming with all wheel drive.
Genesis G70 Price and Release
Even though it is too soon to say anything about this vehicle, it is highly likely that this two-door sedan could be based on the Vision G concept. Genesis G70 could look like a scaled down version of this concept. Vision G concept was presented by Hyundai last summer at annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
Since the G80 and G90 will be launched first, there is still a few year left before launch of Genesis G70. Therefore, it is too soon to predict its price range.
